2007-02-27 [Jenna Rose]: Hey, good idea for a contest [Mister Saint]!

2007-02-27 [Mister Saint]: Hee... yay! O.o We should do cross promotion, don'tcha think?

2007-02-27 [Jenna Rose]: Sure, if you want ^^
I might submit something here. I have a few short things... I'm just too shy/scared to post them -.-

2007-02-27 [Mister Saint]: Well, if you wish, go right ahead! That's why I put one of mine up... I thought it might help people feel more comfortable to see someone else take the plunge first.

2007-02-27 [Jenna Rose]: I really like that one of yours xD
I'll have to go through mine, and see, and re-do them a little.

2007-02-27 [Jenna Rose]: Is there going to be a deadline, or just whenever you get enough participants?

2007-02-27 [Mister Saint]: I don't know just yet. Let's say... for now, there's a loose frame of three entrants, or two weeks, whichever comes last. If it doesn't fit, we'll change it!

2007-02-27 [Taylor]: I'm taking down my poem...sorry guys I just can't do it. With Karly's sister on here I'd rather not get the snot beat out of me for a fantasy..-__0;;

2007-02-28 [Mister Saint]: Hee... well, you're welcome to write something different. But that's just fine. ^^

2007-02-28 [Jenna Rose]: I'm working on something for here right now. It's just going slow, it's hard for me.

2007-02-28 [Mister Saint]: It's not easy! Well, it is if the writing is blunt and literal, but doing it well is definitely not. *nodzilla*

2007-02-28 [Jenna Rose]: I used to be good at it :P Now it just reminds me of stuff.

2007-02-28 [Jenna Rose]: I have another question. How much dialog is it okay to have?

2007-02-28 [Mister Saint]: However much you like.

2007-03-01 [Mister Saint]: I'm almost tempted to write up a short blurb on guidelines for writing 'erotically' versus 'pornographically'... anybody think such a thing might be useful?
Also, what about having an umbrella page for these contests? There was one previously, but last I heard it stopped operating a while back. Thoughts?

2007-03-01 [Jenna Rose]: That might be good, the blurb... Because a lot of people, when they write about sex, they use body parts to describe it in ways that make it just seem gross, not erotic (granted I do too sometimes, but not in like.. dirty ways). A lot of "erotic" writing I've read is more like dirty porn. -.-

An umbrella page?

2007-03-01 [Mister Saint]: Yeah, like Flipside used to be for regular contests. A host page might be a better way to put it.

2007-03-01 [Jenna Rose]: There's one called "The Otherside" isn't there? For less clean poems. I think I passed by it... and [Emily] had a page, Free to write, I think, but she said it's closed down.

Know what? It didn't notify me of your comment on my "You Stayed" o.e

2007-03-01 [Mister Saint]: No? Weird. o.O

The Otherside was part of flipside, but if it ever got off the ground at all I don't know about it, and that was forever ago.

2007-03-01 [Jenna Rose]: Nope. Lately, the new writing pages I make, I have to click to watch them. o.o Hmm.

Yeah, The Otherside looked kinda of... lonely. :3

2007-03-02 [Mister Saint]: Hee... well, we'll ponder on it. ^^

2007-03-02 [Mister Saint]: Okee! I'll work on that help article at some point soon... meanwhile, we need to advertise this... and I'm trying to figure out where. WC members are amazingly uninspired as a whole, and I don't know where they're looking anymore.

2007-03-02 [Jenna Rose]: I have a link on my page. And on Anything Goes.

2007-03-03 [Calann]: I am silently watching and wondering whether I'm up to this. :P

2007-03-03 [Jenna Rose]: Why wouldn't you be? :P

2007-03-04 [Mister Saint]: I don't see why not. Go on, take a shot at it!

2007-03-04 [Askoga]: Hee, you should have seen my first atempt! I sat down to write for this contest (an intimidating thought all by itself) around midnight, and ended up writing my Abuse story instead. Talk about a turn-around!

2007-03-04 [Mister Saint]: the article is A Few Favorite Things and it's finished. If anyone has anything to say about it, let me know.

2007-03-04 [Jenna Rose]: 'S good.

2007-03-08 [Askoga]: Page change was me updating my story link! Didn't want people happening across my attempt at erotica without knowing what they're looking at, so I got busy re-organizing shtuff. ^.^

2007-03-11 [Mister Saint]: If no one's opposed, I'll set up the poll tonight for the voting. And I'll come up with a new prompt soon, too. ^^

2007-03-11 [Jenna Rose]: *not opposed*

2007-03-11 [Jenna Rose]: Oooh! Good prompt!

2007-03-11 [Mister Saint]: whoo!

2007-03-11 [Askoga]: -agrees!- I'll have a hard time with it, though... Wonder if I should try out Ander in a romantic beach-setting...?

2007-03-11 [Mister Saint]: Ander would spend the whole story quivering and fleeing, 'skoga! o.o

2007-03-11 [Askoga]: XD Nah! He'd develop a friendship with her prior to the story, silly. He doesn't *always* flee from women, you know.

2007-03-11 [Jenna Rose]: How long is the poll going to run, and is there a deadline for the new prompt, or is it until there's enough entries? :P

2007-03-11 [Mister Saint]: I dunno. I want at least four votes, though. And no deadline, just till I feel like closing the next prompt. ^^

2007-03-11 [Jenna Rose]: I think I'm going to try poetry for this prompt. Try being the main word. *heads off to start!*

2007-03-12 [Mister Saint]: *cheers you on!*

2007-03-12 [Jenna Rose]: I hope it isn't a problem I have mine in so early... I was bored.

2007-03-12 [Mister Saint]: It's never a problem!

2007-03-15 [Askoga]: Whoo! I gots a vote!

Dunno if I'll be able to write another one, for this prompt, though. I sat down, and...well....it's not exactly anything near erotica. Unless....does it *have* to be a beach? Can it just be the ocean?

2007-03-15 [Mister Saint]: Um... well, as long as it's moonlit, I guess that's just fine.

2007-03-15 [Askoga]: Whoo!!! -will get her thinking wheels in motion-

2007-03-16 [Mister Saint]: By the by. It's a pretty good idea to put warning labels on all mature writing here. Just in case. ^_^

2007-03-16 [Mister Saint]: Ooh, also, for next time I think I'll put the poll on a separate page. Yes, no, maybe so?

2007-03-16 [Jenna Rose]: It looks okay on here. More people might see it if the just click the link to this wiki, and then decide to vote.

2007-03-17 [Mister Saint]: By the way, also- if anyone has an idea for a prompt, feel free to shoot 'em at me. I'd love to know what other people find fantastic - it tells a lot about a person.

2007-03-17 [Kiddalee]: I might have suggested "Waking up with your lover," but you've already done that one :P

2007-03-17 [Mister Saint]: Doesn't mean it can't be a prompt at some point, though. o.o Maybe with a twist on it?

2007-03-17 [Jenna Rose]: I just realized [Askoga] and I did kind of do waking up things... Hmm. What kind of twist could be put on waking up?

2007-03-17 [Mister Saint]: Well, there's location? Maybe the lover wakes the narrator up, or vice versa, instead of mutually waking up? Something like that.

2007-03-17 [Jenna Rose]: That could be interesting.
What about, for a prompt one time, something romantic... Like a special occasion, with candles and all that, where there's a marriage proposal or something, and then continue... I dunno. Just something romanticy.

2007-03-17 [Mister Saint]: Sure...! Personally, I *love* romance. There's just something heartwarming about two people who are really in love and not afraid to display it. *le sigh*

2007-03-17 [Jenna Rose]: I know :) What I had in mind, would be like... The girl got home, and there was candles and rose petals leading up to the bedroom, where classical music was playing, and the guy was on his knee, with a ring... *day dreams*

2007-03-17 [Mister Saint]: Aww...! That just makes me wriggle, you know. Ish so sweet...!

2007-03-17 [Jenna Rose]: xD Glad you like it. I'd look forward to that as a prompt.

2007-03-17 [Jenna Rose]: Oh, by the way, what about a prompt actually involving cuffs?

2007-03-17 [Mister Saint]: i'm not opposed to it in the least. want to come up with one? hell, we could run concurrent prompts. heaven knows there's enough ground to cover.

2007-03-17 [Jenna Rose]: And enough boredom to cure. *has nothing to think about but Biology -.- * And sure, I would like to. When I'm fully awake and functional. o.o'

2007-03-17 [Mister Saint]: Coolness. We can work with that.

2007-03-17 [Jenna Rose]: I was having troubles spelling "that" a minute ago. Off to bed for me!

2007-03-17 [Kiddalee]: Eh? You mean that wasn't the theme for the round that this poll is about? How funny!

2007-03-17 [Mister Saint]: There was no theme for the last round.

2007-03-17 [Calliope]: Hmm what about a prompt about being in a forest? A walk gone rogue sorta thing heh

2007-03-17 [Jenna Rose]: Yeah, like a hike/picnic gone... bad in the good way >.>

2007-03-17 [Calliope]: Yep, and of course the always popular run in the rain. That could be a prompt unto itself though heh

2007-03-17 [Mister Saint]: hum...

Okay ladies, I have a thought. Brace yourselves.
I'm thinking of instituting some changes in here next time. This is what I'm ponderin'.

Two prompts run at the same time, and will be judged separately, so we can have more prompts.

Guest judges like Unlazy Poets - who would write a prompt and example piece (so I can play, too!)

Badges!

Any ideas?

2007-03-17 [Jenna Rose]: I could make badges... I have handcuff brushes that I would love to use. Haven't had anything to use them for as of yet. And this one that looks like a silk sheet that I've been wanting to use... Heh. If you want, I can send you one I played around with to see. And I wouldn't mind making a prompt, like one I mentioned last night with actual handcuffs. I really need a life.

2007-03-17 [Jenna Rose]: And I take back what I said yesterday about the poll on a different page. If you're gunna have more than 1 poll at a time, a different page would be good.

2007-03-18 [Mister Saint]: Let's close this poll Sunday, and get a second prompt up. We'll run the next polls concurrently.

2007-03-18 [Jenna Rose]: *claps* So can I make a prompt? *has one formulated*

2007-03-18 [Mister Saint]: Make it and send it to me... leave the actual page build stuff to me. ^^_^^ Plus, I'll have to look over it and such.

2007-03-18 [Mister Saint]: And... this time's winner is Askoga! Congraturations!

2007-03-18 [Jenna Rose]: Under past winners, Askoga's writing isn't a link. o.o Unless it's supposed to not be.

2007-03-18 [Mister Saint]: Hee... yay! Good call.

2007-03-18 [Jenna Rose]: :P I have the habit of puttin' @ wiki when I link to a writing, because I'm much more used to that.

2007-03-18 [Mister Saint]: yeah... that took me a long time to get used to, also.

2007-03-18 [Jenna Rose]: Here's another prompt idea for you... A Honeymoon.
Something I was reading was very good with it.

2007-03-18 [Mister Saint]: ehh... honeymoon's something that's very easily incorporated into any other theme. I'm not sure if it, by itself, would be much better than no theme at all.

2007-03-29 [Mister Saint]: I was thinking. What if we didn't bother with 'judges' and just let everybody participate in every prompt? That way whoever came up with it can still play.

2007-03-29 [Askoga]: Sounds great to me!

2007-03-29 [Jenna Rose]: Sounds good.

2007-04-05 [Mister Saint]: Hi everyone! We're dyin' here. There are a couple of things I'm considering for this contest. One of them is to expand what's allowed... not too far, or else this becomes just another poetry contest. Meaning, not every entry has to be overtly erotic in nature - as long as physical love is somehow connected to the piece, it should be good to go. Now, I do want entries to earn those mature warnings. That was the whole point of the contest, to let us express ourselves where other contests wouldn't allow it. ^^

I'd also like to cut the specificity of the themes. Instead of place/situation themes (moonlit beach or stormy day) I'd like to shift over to form themes (write from your own perspective, write from the perspective of your lover, write from the perspective of two people you've never met, write from both, whatever) with maybe one or two word guidelines (storm, beach) to go by. Any thoughts?

2007-04-05 [Mister Saint]: Also, it's just about time to judge these. I won't hand myself a win for the handcuffs prompt, so if someone wants to enter please do so ASAP. If not, we'll scrap it.

2007-04-05 [Calann]: Can tomorrow be considered to be within an acceptable time frame to enter last-minute?

2007-04-05 [Mister Saint]: Absatively. *nods*

2007-04-05 [Calann]: Now there's a word that... doesn't exist. :P

2007-04-05 [Mister Saint]: It does now! Words that don't exist are mabjabulous. Haven't you ever read Jabberwocky?

2007-04-05 [Calann]: Nope. :3

2007-04-05 [Mister Saint]: O.O

http://www.jabberwocky.com/carroll/jabber/jabberwocky.html

You must read this. Everyone must read this at one time or another.

2007-04-05 [Calann]: Aye-aye sire! *bookmarks*
I'll look at it in...ehh... June? xD *must read seven different entrance exam books, and then some*

2007-04-05 [Jenna Rose]: I <3 that poem.

2007-04-05 [Mister Saint]: Hee... well, Jabberwocky's very short. Takes about a minute ish to read out loud. I think.

2007-04-05 [Jenna Rose]: It always reminded me of this poem that I love too :P
http://www.akoot.com/jackprelutsky5.html

2007-04-05 [Calann]: Hehe, okay. Maybe I'll read it a bit sooner, then. Perhaps even tomorrow. :P Now it is late and I must sleep. x_x

2007-04-05 [Jenna Rose]: Er... Is it okay if in mine, the person waiting at home isn't the one who has the handcuffs?

2007-04-05 [Mister Saint]: Just fine! I read over it and it fits the qualifications. ^^

2007-04-06 [Jenna Rose]: Ah, good! xD

2007-04-06 [Calann]: *gives up* My muse won't co-operate. ;_; Sorry. :/

2007-04-08 [Mister Saint]: New prompts, everyone. Yes, they're the same, but I wanted to separate prose and poetry this time.

2007-04-10 [Mister Saint]: Everyone, please drop by Fuzzy Polls and vote.

2007-04-16 [Mister Saint]: The prompts this time should be loads easier than the last ones, so don't be afraid to go inany direction you want.

2007-04-24 [Mister Saint]: Okay! I think it's just about time to pick up the winners for last time... so... check the new page update for that!

Also, I have an idea. Is there anybody here who doesn't enter because he/she is worried about people being judgmental about the fantasies depicted?

I was thinking of borrowing my obselete WC Monthly house and using it as an entry vehicle for this contest... or even getting a new house to do it with. Writings could be uploaded to wikis (if WC Monthly house) or to the writings page (if a new house) and that way no one would know whose entry is which. Of course, someone would have to find out for badge-making and win-giving purposes, but that would only be me and possibly Willow Rose. Any thoughts?

2007-04-24 [Jenna Rose]: That isn't an issue for me, so I really wouldn't have any helpful thoughts.

2007-04-28 [Jenna Rose]: Do you want me to remove mine? Because I don't want to change it. When I wrote it, I meant it to be short and like it is. The female character just wants her lover to love her one more time before he leaves. *shrugs*

2007-04-28 [Mister Saint]: That's up to you. ^^ The comment I gave it has nothing to do with this contest. You asked on the page for a rating, but I didn't want to give it an honest rating without explaining what I felt could be improved.

2007-05-14 [Mister Saint]: Okee day! The poll for this will be put up soon, and then this contest will officially be closed. Badges will be handed out accordingly. Thanks to all who had the courage to try this out!

2007-05-14 [Annie]: Aw... :(

2007-05-15 [Mister Saint]: Last poll's up at Fuzzy Polls. Vote. [Askoga] wins this time's prose category by default. Whoever's designing the badges - Willow Rose, right? - please get some badges to last time's winners and another to [Askoga] for this win. I don't need one for my win last time. ^^ Thanks to everyone who participated.

2007-05-16 [Mister Saint]: That's not acceptable. ^^ Sorry, I'll take care of it myself in the next little bit.

2007-05-16 [Jenna Rose]: Wow. o.o That's totally the wrong picture. The one I had was just like the other one, with the lace and cuffs, but purplish instead of pink. I have too many things in my files from Photoshop that are "Untitled", and I must have clicked on the wrong one to upload... The "literature" one is for my writing previews on deviantArt :S

2007-05-16 [Annie]: Haha, that's funny. :P I was wondering why you would choose to just put "literature." Hahaha...

2007-05-16 [Jenna Rose]: I didn't intentionally :P I picked "Untitled 1" instead of "Untitled 1.2".

2007-05-17 [Annie]: Haha...

2007-05-17 [Mister Saint]: Hee... well that's okay, Willow Rose. ^^ [Nightshadow] is working on some spiffy 'end of contest superspiff' type badges for the ones left so you don't have to trouble yourself.

2007-05-20 [Mister Saint]: Whoo... a threeway tie. Anybody willing to step up and break it?

2007-05-23 [Mister Saint]: Hey everyone, there's a slight problem with one of the entries this time. I was reading through the entries, and it occurs to me that the one titled "one last time" doesn't fit the theme. I should've noted this before, but I think I was just too tired with various things. I'm not really sure what to do about this, but my instinct is to pull it from the voting and start with a fresh poll, perhaps giving the poet time to enter something else or fix this one up. Thoughts?

2007-05-23 [Askoga]: Sounds good to me!

2007-05-29 [Mister Saint]: 'kay, I spoke to Willow Rose and she won't be entering a new one. So, we're gonna make up a new poll and EVERYONE NEEDS TO VOTE AGAIN!

2007-05-30 [Mister Saint]: New poll's up!

As much as I hate to go back there, I'm thinking about moving this contest to Elftown. Any thoughts?

2007-05-30 [Calann]: Writing contests on Elftown don't see much life, I'm afraid. I should know, I'm the writing contests list supervisor...

2007-05-31 [Mister Saint]: eep... Well, that's a pity. I do wish I could breathe life into this somehow, though... it's such an interesting thing, to see people's different takes on the subject. Maybe the crowd here is just too young?

2007-05-31 [Annie]: lol, hey! :P I tried it!

2007-05-31 [Mister Saint]: oh, I mean in general. *grins* And you did, and yay you!

2007-05-31 [Askoga]: You know, I think the crowd at ET is younger, overall, than the crowd here.... o.o

2007-07-10 [Mister Saint]: Okay. Sorry about the long wait for the poll to close... I'll get your badge to you today Annie. ^^ Thanks to everyone who participated in this contest.
